The Sault Ste. Marie Gymnastic Club offers a summer of action packed experiences with emphasis on developing gymnastic skills, self-esteem, socialskills, and having FUN! Our campers spend the summer making friends, trying new activities, and exploring new adventures. Camp activities spark interest and imagination ranging from gymnastics, sports, swimming, games and outdoor activities to creative arts, special events, and field trips! Weekly themes add a special touch –keeping a smile in every camper’s summer.

THEMES FOR THE SUMMER
July 3rd to 7th: GAME-A-PALOOZA – Ready? Set? Go! Join us for a week of nonstop action as we get moving and playing every type of game you can imagine! We will challenge each other to be the best we can be! Campers get on your mark!
July 10th to 14th: SPACE STATION VACATION – One small step for day camp, one giant leap for mankind! Join us as we shoot for the stars, explore the furthest reach for the cosmos, get acquainted with aliens, and paint our solar system. Let’s take imagination to infinity and beyond!
July 17th to 21st: MINION MANIA – Suspicions are growing and things aren’t quite as they appear. The rope is missing from the pit, strange footprints have been seen on the beams, and baffling sounds are coming from the change rooms. Yikes – a camper has spotted a yellow Twinkie with hands and feet heading to the pool! Join us as we solve this mystery and many others!
July 24th to 28th: CANDY COATED CELEBRATION – Colour and candy is here, there and everywhere! Come along as we ride the waves of skittles, take part in a candy crush relay, and become chocolate champions! This week is sure to be sweet!
July 31st to August 4th: WATER WATER EVERYWHERE – It’s a SSMGC beach bash with hula-hoop games, water balloon piñatas,
AUGUST 7th to 11th – CLOSED
August 14th to 18th: SUPER HERO SUMMER SPLASH – Never fear…Super Summer is here! Whether you are faster than a speeding bullet or just look good in a cape, you don’t want to miss this action packed week! Dive in super heroes and get ready to start your super hero training course!
August 21st to 25th: SHIP TO SHORE – All hands on deck me hearties! Enter a world where pirates rule the seas and buried treasures need to be found! Grab your pirate hat, tighten your eye patch, and be sure Polly is perched! It is time for an adventure!
August 28th to September 1st: MESSY MAYHEM – Is messy your middle name? If so, thisweek is for you! There will be crazy challenges, wacky games, and icky-sticky-silly stuff you create! All we can say is come prepared to have a blast getting messy!

What to Pack Each Day
While in the gym, participants should wear comfortable clothing (shorts and a t-shirt or body suit). Long hair must be tied back. All jewellery must be removed except for small stud earrings. Gymnastics is done in bare feet. Prepare your campers for outdoor play by packing proper running shoes, sunscreen, water bottle, hat, and backpack for belongings. We may be eating at different locations so please ensure that your child’s belongings all fit into one bag that can be carried easily.

Camp Cancellations
Cancellations received one week prior to the first day of camp are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations after this time will not be refunded. Cancellations due to medical reasons will be fully refunded if a doctor’s note is provided. Refunds are not granted if a participant withdraws from the program due to misconduct.

Sign-In, Sign-Out & Drop Offs
Sign your child in and out upon arrival and departure each day. Please arrange to have your child picked up by one of the people on your child’s registration form. In the event we should expect someone else to pick up your child, please provide us with a written note in advance.

NUT CONSCIOUS FACILITY
Pack your campers a healthy nut free lunch and two generous nut free snacks. Please call SSMGC for more details about this policy.

Swimming Policy
SSMGC participates in supervised swimming activities in the John Rhodes Pool. In accordance with their safety ratios, only children 7 years of age or older are allowed to swim. Swim tests must be performed each time. Children who do not pass the swim test are to stay within arm’s reach of their coach. Don’t forget your swim suit and towel!

Off Site Field Trips
Each week campers leave the building to attend off site field trips. When destinations are less than one kilometer away, participates will walk with adult supervision to their activity. On other occasions, participants will take transit. There are no additional fees for these field trips.

Camp Staff
At SSMGC all our staff and volunteers have been chosen for their commitment to children, qualifications and experience. All coaches are minimum Level One Certified with Gymnastics Ontario. With a camper/staff ratio of 10:1, safety is our number one priority! All staff will have attended a pre-camp training session.

Gym Policy
Parents are not allowed in the gym unless they are part of an approved program or an SSMGC approved aide. However, we welcome parents to stay and watch their children learn and play from the viewing area.
